Ways to cool down your heat bill

One of the things to be considered at home is the financial budgeting that includes electric bill.

If a home furnace is used, the increase of electric bill is expected because it uses a large amount of energy that may add to your head ache; however there are ways in cooling down your heat bill that you might want to consider aside from proper using of furnace and current apparatus.

  1. Changing of furnace filter can be done twice a year, but cleaning should be done monthly. This is the least and easiest expensive way to increase heater’s capability.
  2. Lower blinds. During night, close all the blinds to make sure that the cold air stays out.
  3. Back-up Furnace heat. Clothes that are fresh from the dryer are more favorable on a cold day. Using and cooking the dryer and washer will help keep the family warm without increasing the bill.
  4. Remove Drafts. Make sure that there are no broken windows and that all windows are properly closed.
  5. You may also rearrange your furniture. This will help heat exchange efficiency.
  6. Thermostat settings. Make sure that you set up your regulator in a lower degrees cooler at night than during morning.

If the above tips still won’t work for you, then you might want to consider replacing or upgrading your furnace especially when it is more than 20 years old already. Aside from replacing or upgrading, make it easier by finding a qualified Heating contractor in  Toronto.
